Hope For The Dying- Legacy Album Review
Hope For The Dying- Legacy Album Review
This album is an absolute masterpiece of symphonic metal. Starts out with a beautiful yet epic intro and slams right into the metal after, but always having a very heavy symphonic sound with many different orchestral instruments. Some of the instruments I don't even know what they are but they sound awesome and mix well with the heavy guitars and screaming. I don't know how but they do and they do it well too!
This band is truly among the best of Christian Symphonic metal and just Christian metal in general.
This is not like most symphonic metal bands that just use power chords for the guitars, this album is loaded with sick riffs, solos, breakdowns, and most songs are long and carry on multiple sequences.
Amazing musicianship!
It has the sound and feel of an epic war fantasy movie, sort of like Lord Of The Rings, but with metal. (That would be sick if they covered The Lord Of The Rings!)
I think what makes a good Christian metal album is it should feel like it is waging war against hell and that is what this album has the feel of. Whenever I hear this music I picture a battlefield and warriors fighting valiantly to protect the ones they love and everything they care about. The feel is brutal and heavy yet beautiful and melodic, and putting those two together is not easy but these guys kick butt at it!
On top of all the amazing musicianship on the guitars, the instrumental orchestral parts are so beautifully put together, like a delicate work of art. This seems to be something the Christian metal scene is lacking, is well put together songs, I know breakdown bands were the ones who blew up the Christian metal scene, but it didn't last long and that is because breakdowns get very old very fast and that is why the scene has died quite a bit, and why metalcore itself is too, because most bands are just breakdown bands and that is not what original metalcore was either.
So this kind of musicianship deserves a lot more recognition so make sure to go and check them out as well as share it with your friends.
One of my favorite songs is, "The Wretched Curse." Here are some of the lyrics from it.
"Running scared, Escape the grip, I can beat this one step at a time
I break fast as I can run
I feel it breathing down my neck
It's gaining ground but I can't let it pull me down
No, it won't happen again
This wretched curse I will escape once and for all.
So there is a taste of the lyrics. The music in this song is really good too, with unrelenting soloing, and a beautiful piano instrumental at one point.
The writing and composition of this album is truly a masterpiece to behold.
Go and check it out!
