Recently FFAK released what I would say is their best album yet, called "Dark Skies."
I have been Into FFAK for a long time, since they released creation/destruction.
Some of their previous albums between these two albums weren't that great in my opinion and when I heard Dark Skies I was not expecting some of the things heard in this album, like on their song, "Anthem of the defeated." THEY ACTUALLY HAD A SOLO!!! A GUITAR SOLO!!! Like what! I thought I was crazy when I heard that.
I have always likes FFAK but I always wished they would do more and be a little more creative with their guitars and with this album they really were but I kinda feel like they could have done more but I was satisfied with how much more they added and hope for more in another future album from them.
The lyrical content in this album is very relatable, and honest about questions and struggles that the writer has dealt with.
Ryan Kirby' s writing is amazing as well as his vocal talent, in this album he has some sick brutal screams and I wish I could scream as long as he does at the end of Backbreaker but I run out of breath and almost die!
The overall sound and mix sounds great and some very brutal breakdowns and heavy riffs. I enjoy some if the songs that use a choir chant echoing in the background on some parts like in the end of tower of pain while the breakdown drops the choir echoes and it is a sick combination!
